Giving back Campaign -</br> Azeem Bailey pay's it forward
    Date: 2021-05-01

    Greetings,

My name is Azeem Bailey, I grew up in Little Burgundy my whole young adult life. Having a parent that was an immigrant to the country it was challenging to overcome some of the adversity I faced through my lifetime from problems with police to dealing with racially systemic institutions. I also come from a low income household with 4 others siblings who alongside me faced many of these overwhelming challenges. Tyndale was an institution that was a staple in my neighbourhood, my grandmother and her mother were active participants in the events that would take place at Tyndale. Tyndale is a more than just a structural building it is filled with people from all ways of life whom under one roof want to help their community.

I was fortunate to be a part of the youth internship program, led by Anthony and Kisha where I was introduced to the field of physical therapy and got to shadow a physiotherapist in their day to day interventions. As a young sports enthusiast who was in love with the game of basketball I never thought of doing anything else that was not basketball related. This opportunity brought a spark in me that led me to the path I am on today. Now I am on my way to completing my courses to become a rehabilitation assistant and be able to help a wide scoop of people increase or maintain their mobility to do the things they love.

Tyndale is way more than a building it is the people inside it. I am always grateful for the warm and kind hearted people who I was able to connect with and express myself to. I would like to thank Anthony, Kisha, Kenneth, Jermaine, and so many others who gave me more than just a building, they gave me a place to grow and develop in a safe environment.

In closing, I am happy to say I now have a chance to give back to the people of Tyndale who have helped me get so far from where I started.

    Thank you,

    Azeem Bailey

Please help Azeem Bailey and Tyndale reach $2000 to offer brand new Under Armor shoes to each of our After School and High School participants. Azeem has pledged $800 of his own money to the campaign. Donate here.

    THANK YOU AZEEM!

    125k Matching Gift Campaign

    125k Matching Gift Campaign
    Date: 2021-01-06

Who would have thought when the world shutdown for the Coronavirus pandemic in March, that in September we would still be in the middle of this crisis?

Although many services have resumed, sadly, some organizations may never reopen. </br>The consequences of this pandemic are incalculable. It is estimated that 25% of the charities in Canada may never reopen, what a loss for so many Canadians. Fortunately, for Little Burgundy residents, Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre has resumed most in-person services; however, we are ready to pivot at any moment to virtual academic and social support if we are required to shut down again.

The only thing that is certain at this point, is change. One of the many activities that will not resume any time soon are fundraising events. Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre cancelled the spring fundraiser ‘Cars & Cocktails’ and the ‘Sushi Event’ scheduled this fall.

These two events generate approximately $150,000 in unrestricted funds for the Centre’s most urgent needs and provide a wonderful opportunity for donors and stakeholders to engage with the mission.

Three generous anonymous donors are responding to our critical need to recoup these unrestricted funds and have offered Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre matching donations of $125,000. We are pleased to announce that Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre is accepting their challenge and launching this exciting 125K Matching Gift Campaign!

For those of you who have given so generously in recent years to the “Slide Down” or silent and live auctions, or bought tickets to the Dinner or the Sushi nights, it is a great opportunity to double the impact of your gift, for a full tax receipt this year.

We are pleased to remind you that the Centre is set up to receive donations in the form of securities if that is tax effective for you. With every dollar you give before December 31st, we will raise twice that amount. Help us reach our goal of raising $125,000 so our anonymous donors will match your donations with an additional $125,000, for a total of $250,000. No gift is too small, so please encourage your friends, colleagues, and family to give generously and DOUBLE the impact your donation has on our Tyndale Families.

The funds raised will help support all in-person and virtual programs at Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre for young families, school-age children, teens, young adults and Little Burgundy’s elders.

Some of the exciting new programs Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre will be implementing this year to help our youth succeed academically are Literacy assistance through the Response to Intervention Model (RTI) for our children in Kindergarten to grade 6, Executive Functioning for high school students using the SMARTS Executive Function curriculum, and the new Artificial Intelligence coding program for all our youths and teens. Help us help them get ahead of the curve!

Please donate to Tyndale St-Georges’ 125K Matching Gift Campaign before December 31st . Your support will raise double the funds, so our Tyndale families continue to receive the social, emotional, and educational support they need, especially during these trying times.
